As an extension of our lab’s work developing and characterizing animal models of infectious disease, we also collaborate with investigators to evaluate the immunogenicity and efficacy of potential vaccines and therapeutics against pathogens in vivo. We use our knowledge of comparative medicine to select the model best suited to evaluate the potential drug or vaccine and work with our collaborators to design studies that can successfully evaluate the efficacy of the drug being tested while simultaneously assessing for any toxic or off-target effects.
