Carmen joined the Maximum Containment Contract Research team in 2019 with over ten years of experience in clinical microbiology and molecular testing. At Texas Biomedical Research Institute, Carmen performs in-vitro testing for both internal and contract research projects focused on testing viral vaccines and treatments, primarily in BSL2 and BSL4 environments. In addition, Carmen works as part of a team to ensure that general laboratory management tasks, such as equipment maintenance and supply inventory are completed. She performs quality control checks on data and project paperwork to maintain MCCR’s high-level of quality control compliance. 

Carmen spent five years in the US Navy as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, earning an Associate of Science Degree from George Washington University. Upon separating, Carmen relocated to Texas and completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas, San Antonio. She is currently working toward a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Texas at Houston School of Public Health, with a concentration in Epidemiology.
