Vanessa Ayala

Vanessa Ayala has worked in Dr. Cole’s Lab since 2000.  As an undergraduate student, she trained in Biology with a specialization in Microbiology.  Before entering the Cole Lab, she served in the United States Air Force as a Bioenvironmental Engineer for close to five years.  As part of the lab’s team projects she uses technical lab protocols to ensure successful data generation for the identification of genetic variation involved in determining metabolic diseases within large population groups. She leads the task of performing human genomic DNA extractions, sample quality control, all aspects of cryostorage of samples, and record keeping of samples for various research projects.
