Dr. Alexana J. Hickmott is a biological anthropologist specializing in behavioral ecology and molecular anthropology. Her research is focused on the evolution of primate diets and the co-evolution primate gut microbiomes. She is interested in how various demographic and physiological variables like age, diet, sociality, and stress structure primates gut microbiomes. Her research includes projects with aging marmosets in the US and field projects on wild bonobos in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
