Postdoctoral Scientist
I am a post-doctoral Scientist at Texas Biomedical Research Institute, and within its Southwest National Primate Research Center. My major job responsibility is to conduct research on the pathogenesis of and immunity to tuberculosis (TB). Recently, my work as also included studying SARS CoV-2. My research is focused on studying host-directed therapies for the treatment of TB in nonhuman primates (NHP). I have a broad background in immunology and molecular/cellular biology. I am well versed with both experimentation and data analysis in high parameter flow-cytometry, confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, cell and bacterial culture and several other immunological techniques. Using these skills, I am leading research in the Mehra lab designed to study the effectiveness of IDO inhibition as host-directed therapy adjunctive to chemotherapy. This project utilizes nonhuman primates as model systems. Additionally, I also an integral part of studies aimed at developing NHP models for SARS CoV-2 infection for COVID-19. My future goals include successful completion and publishing findings of my ongoing research projects as well as my independent scientific career advancement.
