Mr. Sergio Diaz Fernández received his B.Sc. in Microbiology from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) and a M.Sc. degree in Infection and Immunity from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. He started his PhD in 2021 in the Institut Germans Trias i Pujol in Spain on the study of biomarkers for the characterization of tuberculosis in humans and murine animal models. He joined the lab of Dr. Torrelles to investigate the impact of ALF exposure on BCG protection in mice models for acute and chronic tuberculosis by looking into indicators of oxidation, inflammation, and other cell-expressed and secreted immune markers.
