Steph is in her 3rd year Ph.D. research and investigating the interactions between Biomphalaria glabrata snail host, host microbiome, and Schistosoma mansoni parasites (blood flukes). She hopes to get insight into the genetic determinants influencing the composition of the snail host microbiome. Steph is receiving training in genetics, molecular immunology, bioinformatics and she also helps in maintaining the schistosome (blood fluke) parasite lifecycle in the lab.
