Neal and Fred presented their recent work at (ICOPA 2026) in Montreal. Neal presented his recent work on schistosome hybridization, comparing whole-genome and cox1/ITS genotyping, and highlighted that the conventional mitochondrial/nuclear approach is unreliable for detecting recent hybrids, and that prior studies using it may have overestimated hybridization rates. Frédéric presented his recent results on the genetics of snail host specificity in schistosomes and the identification of promising schistosome candidate genes that may allow the parasite to develop within the snail.
