From September 28 to October 2, we were delighted to host Dr. Tom Pennance in our lab. Dr. Pennance is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Natural History Museum in London with extensive expertise in parasitology and snail genetics.
His research integrates experimental, genomic, and transcriptomic approaches to study the diversity of African Biomphalaria species and their interactions with Schistosoma mansoni, with a particular focus on allelic variation underlying resistance and susceptibility. Currently, he is studying parasite population genomics in Zanzibar pre- and post-praziquantel treatment, which has strong overlap with our PZQ-R project.
We thank Dr. Pennance for his visit and look forward to continued collaboration.
