From August 9–17, we were delighted to host Dr. Yves-Nathan Tian-Bi, Associate Professor at the University Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Côte d’Ivoire, and an expert in the genetics of schistosome host snails and schistosome biology. Dr. Tian-Bi is collaborating with our group on molecular surveillance of praziquantel resistance allele in natural schistosome populations. During his visit, Dr. Tian-Bi learned about capture methods and qPCR, two key methods used for our molecular surveillance project, and explored joint grant opportunities. He also delivered a seminar on Schistosome Biology and Control in Côte d'Ivoire, toured our labs and facilities, observed snail maintenance, and engaged with staff and students. Beyond the lab, lab members introducing him to San Antonio’s culture and Texas barbecue. We thank Dr. Tian-Bi for his visit and look forward to continued collaboration.
