Dr. Jenna Hulke and Dr. Neal Platt, in collaboration with our partners at KEMRI, have returned to Texas Biomed with both exposed and uninfected Bulinus snails, as well as schistosome parasites: Schistosoma haematobium, which infects humans, and S. bovis, which infects cattle. These will be used to establish laboratory populations of both parasite species, laying the groundwork for future research on hybridization.
A huge thank you and congratulations to Jenna, Neal, and the incredible team in Kenya for their hard work and collaboration in making this field effort such a success!
